Finally some inspiration to get back into design!  The B4B team has asked me to participate in the upcoming Fashion Show and Fundraising Extravaganza!  Back in 2007 they gave me my first exposure on the runway and it was a blast!  This year the theme is "Green" and my designs will be based off idea's I've had brewing for years.

I will present "Salvage Wear".  All items crafted by me; using new cloth with low-impact like; factory remnants, Vegan Leather and Faux Fur.  In mass production, a factory will cut patterns from large bolts of fabric and whatever is left over is considered a write off.  Most companies do not want these scraps as they dont fit into their design plan.  There is a shop dedicated to these castoffs in San Francisco called SCRAP.   "Faux" materials have come a long way since "Ultrasuede".  I found Vegan Leather that is stretchy, unique and guilt free.  I fashioned it into a "Valter" - a vest that turns into a halter once the back piece is removed. Because to me, "Green" also means versatility.  I love to create items that can be used more than one way.  I also plan to add some Faux Fur stoles as luxury without the shame and you wouldnt believe how soft they are.
